Changes to Nexus security line -- laptops out of carry-on
 

Going through the Nexus security line at YYZ Transborder, we were told that we need to take out our laptops from our carry-ons. Upon inquiring, I was told by the CATSA screener that the policy changed today. The other benefits (jackets/shoes stay on) were not changed.

Anyone else run into this ?

I'm always asked at YOW/YYZ (domestic) to take the laptop out.

Last month while traveling to IST, I had 2 surface pros, one Samsung 10.1 tablet, and one laptop, plus a whole bunch of smartphones [all for work... network testing], but was only asked to take the laptop out.

CATSA is about as consistent, predictable and useful as a fart in the wind. The line at YYC is usually pretty good, but YWG is an ongoing joke...at least for the 45 minutes/day they actually man the dedicated line.

Always asked to remove laptop.

Last couple of times I have been lazy and left my liquids in my bag. No one has said a thing. So now, it stays in my bag! :)

I think yyzsfoflyer is talking about the precheck-like lane at YYZ. Don't think they have that at YOW, YYC or YWG or do they?

And if it is the precheck line, it would be a shame if we now have to take out our laptops. :(

Yes, the YYZ transborder NEXUS line is, as far as I know, unique in the country.

Ditto. And liquids and gels stayed in my bag. If you have TSA Pre✓ does laptop stay in your bag? Is this a different lane? I guess I will find out next week.

Using TSA Pre✓ from the US side it is a separate lane and laptop stays in the bag. Assuming that's what you were asking about. :)

I have never ever used a bag for my liquids, always had to pull out my laptop, never pulled out my playbook......yes that is a BlackBerry Playbook ( I guess toys can stay in) :D

Pre✓ is a US program, and only exists in US airports.

So yes, the YYZ NEXUS lane is very different :p

When I flew on Tuesday I specifically asked the CATSA person in the YYZ NEXUS line "laptop in or out" (people ahead of me out of habit took theirs out) and she said "in".

Flew out of YYC two days ago and used the Nexus line. Told to take laptops and liquids out. Was told I could leave my shoes on but they have big metal bars in them so I always take them off anyway.

YYZ is the only Nexus line which consistently says "in".

This morning at YYZ it was all laptops out of bags in NEXUS line.
