Pearson T1 T3 Transit Question
Planning an Asian award trip (ORD-TPE-BKK). Will be arriving on UA or AC in T1 and connecting to BR out of T3. This will be a UA award and all flights will be on the same ticket/PNR. So I assume the bags will be checked through to BKK.
I visited the Pearson website and the customized connecting guide mentions picking up and dropping off luggage. Is this really required? I don't think it is such a terrible requirement. Just want to know how much time to plan for the connection. |
Yes, it is required. But you won't need to haul your luggage with you to T3.
On the Pearson website there is a connecting guide. Enter your arrival and departure information and it gives you a step by step guide on what you have to do. http://www.torontopearson.com/Connecting.aspx# Note that the train is currently out of service until the end of October and shuttle buses are running between terminals. |

Technically, am I clearing Canadian Customs by reclaiming/dropping off the bags? It is sounding a lot like transiting in the US. It looks like the bus should take me about 15 to 20 minutes max to go from T1 to T3. Any estimate on how much time it takes to get out of T1 and then to clear security in T3?? |

Thanks for the URL, laidback71. That is where I got the info in the first place.

T3 intl departure CATSA can be a nightmare due to many passengers not knowing basic allowable on plane regulations. It can be quite a long wait. At T3 US departure there is priority CATSA line for FF with priority status with their flying airline as printed on the BP. I have not tried T3 intl departure to see if thy have this priority line. I would guess 90 minutes prior to departure at T3 would be a safe bet. |

With the shorter connection, I would worry about WX or MX delays followed by congestion in all the queues. |
Also try to get YYZ departure lounge access. T3 Intl departure area is not a good place to spend time waiting for flights.

Pearson T1 T3 Transit Question
Not a huge hassle, as stated before you drop back your luggage steps away.
T3 is bad - Make sure you go to the lounge before passing security as you can't go back |

There's rumor that EVA will move to T1 eventually since it's *A Terminal If your trip is far away in 2014, I'm sure it'll all transfer within T1 then

Wow, I was reading that the T3 Plaza Premium lounge was better than anything in T1.
It's very nice lounge (I used it in July) and has many hot food so I liked it better than PP USA or PP Int' or Int'l MLL in T1 Enjoy EVA flight Probably should eat more food before you board, RL food isn't that much, but it is a 1~2 am flight |
