PRG-MUN-YYZ-STL Customs Question
I have a friend flying from Prague - Munich - Toronto - Saint Louis on Air Canada (codeshare with Lufthansa in Europe).
She is a Czech citizen - so access to Canada and USA is technically at the discretion of the custom agents. I am not sure how U.S. Customs are handled on the YYZ-STL (Air Canada) flight, because if I remember correctly, STL does not have a U.S. Customs presence anymore. Since STL has only limited international flights from Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. Does anyone know how this is handled ? Also, will she need to clear Canadian customs before connecting to the U.S. ? Or will she be in a "transit" area ? Any feedback would be appreciated. |
The flight into the US will be subject to US customs and immigration at the connection point in Canada. The flight arriving in the US does not clear immigration again but is treated as a domestic entry.

Thanks B1.

In addition to the above, no need to clear Canadian customs / immigration in YYZ if your friend is connecting directly from MUC to STL.

Thanks.
Does this eliminate the need for a Canadian transit visa then ? Based on what I read, it might be required for Czech citizen. |
she will be arriving and departing from term 1, if her bag is tagged straight through to STL, then she picks up her bag at US CBP belt and clears there. If her bag is only tagged to YYZ then she has to clear Canadian Border Services and the recheck her baggage and then clear US preclearance.
