Toronto Steakhouses

Will be in Toronto later this month and am looking for an upscale steakhouse. I'm considering Jacob's Steakhouse as it looks very good (but pricey) and is near my hotel. Any feedback? I'm also considering Harbor Sixty. For what its worth I'll be going on a Sunday night and plan to make a reservation in advance.

Harbour Sixty is really good. Highly recommended.

You can also try Hy's Steakhouse, its very good too.

Tom Jones is that neck of the woods also serves a fine steak.

If you are ready to venture out there are more "hidden gems", are you staying at the King Eddie?

Jacob's is very good, as is Harbour Sixty

There are the usual US Chains, Mortons, Ruths Chris, there is nothing unique to Toronto about either

Hy's is a Canadian chain, also OK

There are a few other independents, of which Barberians seems to get the most positive buzz.

Yup, Barberians is truly all about meat. A block north of Dundas/Yonge on Elm Street.

Harbour Sixty looks spectacular. Jacobs is probably similar to the local steakhouses here or in NYC. I'll probably give Harbour a try.

Both Jacobs and Barberians gave me an upset stomach.

I'd give my vote to Harbour 60.

Ruth's is also v. good, but not unique to Toronto.

+1 to Barberian's. Their wine list is quite extensive.

My tip is to order the Chateaubriand - it's an excellent choice!

My vote is for Barberians. It is, as the like to say in TO, a Toronto 'institution.'

Yes, and seems to be a popular spot for politicos ...

Barberian's and Bardi's are good and there are a few The Keg's around town which serve a decent steak as well.

My vote is for Jacobs, I've tried most of them and find them all too old school for me. Jacobs seems to hit the mark if you're looking for something a bit more modern.

+1 for Barberian's. Charcoal grilled steak + excellent choice of wine.
