Calgary Airport to Banff

Hey All,

I'll be speaking at a conference in Banff next month and I was wondering what the most efficient method to get from the Calgary Airport to the Fairmont Banff Springs is (not renting a car).

Many thanks...

And yes, I did a search but didn't find this exact info...

The two shuttle buses mentioned above are the two most cost-efficient options. I took a Brewster bus some years ago and it was reasonable comfortable (modern clean bus with a/c), IIRC it was a 1.5 ride.

If cost doesn´t matter, you could charter a helicopter and land in front of the hotel.:p

Just arrived in cowtown and my taxi driver was gloating about his one-way fare (fair ??) to banff ....$250 +GST ...ouch

Don't do what friends of mine did a few years ago: rented a car at YYC and drove towards Banff. They got so caught up in the scenery and conversation they blew by both exits to Banff, blew by Lake Louise, went over the Kicking Horse Pass, blew by the sign that said "Welcome to British Columbia", and it wasn't until they were heading down the hill to Golden one of them thought, "Shouldn't we be there by now?". Overshot by 200 km. We still haven't let them forget. :D

I guess one could negotiate a 10% lower rate, but still not cheap. Seems like a good deal if you´re travelling in a party of 3, but otherwise I don´t see the point of taking a taxi.

One other thing - Note that the Banff Springs hotel isn't in "Downtown Banff" (not that it's an urban downtown :))

...so if you want to visit Lake Louise, the town, the icefields etc. you may want to rent a car for a day once you're there just to noodle around. The hotel will be able to help you out with this.

Oh yeah, and the shuttle is a van, not a bus...
