Last minute questions!

I'm going to Montreal tomorrow and haven't had much time to plan my weekend. Usually I'm a big planner but I've been burning the midnight oil at work. I have some basic questions but I'd appreciate a response!

-I'm staying at Hotel du Fort on Rue du fort. The hotel has listed a couple stops on the green and orange lines as closest. Can I get the metro from YUL or should I take the 747 Bus? If I take the bus, where should I get off to pick up the green or orange line?
-Are US dollars accepted in Canada or strictly Canadian?

Thanks!

The Metro doesn't run to the airport. Take the bus to any stop close to a metro station and you'll be fine, just ask the bus driver.

For your other question... Would you try to pay with Euros in London? Maybe at LHR, but not in a local curry shop. In case you haven't heard, the Loonie is on it's way to becoming a global reserve currency. If you pay in USD, it may get accepted at par, it may not. Draw some CAD from an ATM upon arrival at YUL.

Your hotel is just a few blocks west of the nearest party zone (on rues Crescent, Montagne and Peel). Enjoy your weekend.

Most places will accept US money but be aware of two things:

1. The exchange rate may not be great.

2. By law, change can only be given in Canadian money. (This includes on the return trip in the stores/restaurants/duty free areas after you have cleared US Customs & Immigration and are awaiting your flight home.)

If you have a Bank of America ATM card, use the BanqueScotia/Scotiabank ATM's as they have a reciprocal arrangement that neither BofA or Scotia will charge those irritating $2-5 fees!:)

As well, tips are often automatically added into restaurant/bar bills in Quebec, and it will probably be shown in French as pourboire.

Great city! Have fun!
