Iqaluit...worth a visit?
I found an amazing deal using 25,000 miles rt to Iqaluit thorugh continental.com and was thinking about going..was wondering who has been and how many days did you spend there? Also any recommended Dog-Sledding tours for the day and also was curious if you can see the Northern Lights in September? Any pictures to share please let me know! :D

I've never been there myself but I have family/friends who have and they say it is nothing but a barren wasteland with a few buildings spread around. I wouldn't recommend going. :td:

I love almost all things Canada so this sounds like a neat trip worth taking just to say you've been there, if the mileage price is really that cheap. A few Google clicks led me to this: http://www.nunavuttourism.com/
Of course it sounds like the previous poster would have Nunavut!! BWAHAHAHA.... :D |
Come to Yellowknife if you want to see the Northern Lights, check out this site for details: http://www.spectacularnwt.com/

As for your post/link, that sounds awesome as well. I am planning to catch the Yukon on a planned Alcan Highway trip in the near future, and Lab/Nfld on yet another trip fairly soon...and that will leave me with NWT/NVT as my only unvisited Canadian provinces/territories. Based on this add'l intel I'll need to find a way up there! |
Why is 25k miles such a "deal"? That's the standard price for US to Canada, on AC anyways...?

That was my thought as well, Yellowknife is a northern city as well like Iqaluit and the poster mentioned the Northern Light so I just provided a tip.

HTSC YZF is a fun place to visit for a few days, but the lake really clouded the sky up when I was there in September. So no northern lights for me. I had a blast anyway. It looked like seasonal business close up after Labour Day. |

It is a deal because the best price I have come up with not using miles is $1500 round trip. Not to many destinations that I know of where you can redeem 25,000 miles for a $1500 rt flight.
