Hey all

Do my bags clear canadian customs in YYZ? or will they be checked all the way to CLT? I will go through US customs in toronto right? or do I do that in Charlotte?

Bags will be transferred directly to US Customs pre-clearance area at YYZ as you will do a short-cut Canadian Immigration review (channel B) and head directly to US preclearance as long as you are staying on AC or connecting onto US or UA at T1. (Assume you are arriving on AC from LHR.) There will be no further US Customs inspection at CLT.

OP should not be seeing CBSA (Canadian immigration) at all. Rather the OP should follow the signs directly to US preclearance. Head down the escalators into the CBSA passport control area ("Customs A") and make an immediate left all the way to the end into the US in-transit preclearance area.

short answer is no.
long answer is it will be quite a bit of hassle, involving forms, calls to phone numbers that are never answered etc
