Igloo Camping
Hi Everyone,
I am in the beginning stages of planning a winter trip with my wife to Canada. It will include some skiing in and around Whistler, BC. Also, wanted to try camping overnight in a igloo. I've gotten some information at themountainschool.com but don't want to limit my choice to just one. Any recommendations or information would be really appreciated! Thanks. |
Whistler is pretty far south. If you want a more realistic igloo experience, you'll have to go much further north.
Temps in Whistler can often exceed 0C. More authentic igloo experiences will take place in parts of Canada where a warm day is -15C and an average day is around -20C or lower. |
The interior of BC features numerous ski resorts which will have a much colder average temperature without needing to get too far from YVR (think 4 hour drive maximum).
Ski resorts such as Silver Star, Apex, Red Mountain or Big White can be an option which you could look into. |

For a real igloo experience, try the ice hotel outside of Quebec City.
