3* - 4* hotel in Toronto downtown

Some friends of mine want to go to Toronto for a few days in July and have asked me for advice regarding accomodation. I´ve only stayed at the Fairmont which is sold out so maybe someone could recommend a hotel?

- location: city centre
- category: 3* - 4*
- price range: ca. $150-$200 ($250 would probably be the limit)
- free/not too expensive parking would be a big bonus (they´ll be using a rental car for getting around town)
- complimentary/not too expensive breakfast would be appreciated

Just to get a basic idea of what they might be looking for:
In Edmonton they booked the Radisson for $170/night, complimentary parking and breakfast for $10-$15pp/day

Thank´s in advance for any advice!

There are lots of fine hotels (check Hotwire) but parking is always expensive and breakfast is not normally included for the general rate. The Delta Chelsea is usually a good value and is well-located - it's 3.5* with good parking. But there is really no need at all for a car in Toronto. Things are in walking distance from almost all downtown hotels and there is public transit everywhere. The only inconvenient hotels are: Radisson and Westin because they are on the lake but are very scenic and the Renaissance, which is in the stadium. The Marriotts are all in good locations, as are the Intercontinentals, Hilton and Hyatts. The Fairmont is the Royal York and it is a convention hotel so it could be full for an event.

In the heart of downtown Toronto I can think of 4 properties that might be a match:

Mariott Residence Inn
Hilton Garden Inn
Hyatt Regency
Renaissance Hotel

Other possibilities:

SoHo Met
Le Germain

Disclaimer - I'm not sure if the price tags for any of these hotels are within range.

P.S. The above posted hotels are all very downtown. If we expand the search a little there are obviously going to be other choices too. The Marriott by the Eaton Centre and the one up by the Bay on Bloor St come to mind.
