YUL to Montreal?
I'm curious what options are available to cheaply get from the airport to city and back this weekend?
I let my sister do all the planning for things to do once in the CBD but want to make sure we don't spend an arm and a leg on transportation getting around. Is it cheaper to rent a car? thanks, --Russ |
Having a car in Montreal can be a nuisance if trying to park. Potentially expensive too.

is there a train option?
a reasonable shuttle? etc. |
No train. Or at least not w/o some intermediate form of transportation to the commuter train station (there's one "nearby").
There appears to be a shuttle for $26 r/t p.p. See the link I posted above for options. |
thank you
I could get a car for approximately $26 a day also, maybe it'll be worth the hassle even with the parking situation... I'm sure I could just leave it at the hotel. |
May not be too bad an idea if it's just for a day or two. On-street parking is possible to find but less likely nearer d/t/CdV hotels.
Fuel stations between CdV and YUL aren't that easy to find unless you know where they are. As for driving, I guess if you have driven around metro NYC and ubran France, it's no problem in Montreal. ;) |
do any downtown hotels offer shuttle service?
may be cheaper than $26 bux a person... hmmm |
The airport bus is $10 bucks

ended up booking Hertz $46CAD all in, and with -9 degrees up there, would be a better way to keep warm.
will have to fill up in the city before heading to the airport the night before departure not sure what my sister has planned for us to do yet, but with the car it should at least be easier getting there... |
IIRC, there is a gas station at the airport, but it may be on the exit side of the roadway. Have a close look when you are departing YUL for downtown.

If you're staying near downtown, a car is a serious nuisance. Not quite as bad on week-ends, but parking is pricey.
There are a few gas stations around the airport. I know for a fact that when you take the exit, and take the "9 o'clock" in the roundabout, there's a gas station right there, across from the mall. HTSC |
I'm not particularly worried about the gas station, worst case scenario I'll just pre-pay with Hertz.
Now if anyone could recommend a nice view of the Montreal skyline so I can drive there and take some pictures, it would be much appreciated. thanks, --Russ |
Piece of cake: Top of Mount Royal. Reasonably easy to get to with a car! :D
