SJC Parking

I will be driving to the airport Monday, Dec 27. I called several of the private lots, who told me they are full. When I checked at the SJC airport website, it had a big message saying "This year everyone who parks at the Airport is guaranteed a space, either in the Long-term lot on Martin Avenue or Short-term parking directly across from the terminals."

Does anyone know how this works? How do they implement the guarantee? If the LT lot is full, do you get a voucher to pay LT rates in the ST lot? What if both are full?

I suspect that Monday the lots will have spaces -- tons of people coming home today will be taking their cars out.

You were completely right. No problem at Park Shuttle and Fly. By the way they have torn down almost all of the warehouses on the lot and it is now a lot easier to navigate and there are a lot more spaces.

How satisfied are folks with the non-airport long term parking? I'm fed up over the long roundabout drive to the lot, and even longer drive back on the shuttle bus.

Any favorites on parking services with a relatively quick shuttle ride? Pricing is less a concern because I'm usually doing 24-hour trips.

I think it depends where you are coming from. Park Shuttle and Fly is just off I-880 at Coleman at the south end of the airport and is a quick trip to the terminals. I will say that I have had to wait for the shuttle bus a little too long on a couple of occasions, but generally it's OK.

DeLa Cruz is at the north end of the airport just off 101. I haven't used them but I know most people who have are quite satisfied.

Park Shuttle sounds better for me. It's probably a shorter run there, then circling back and forth like the insane "inner loop" back to long-term. I tend to arrive early for flights, but want to bail on arrival.

Thanks!

1125 Coleman Avenue - Outdoor only

Mostly I don't drive/park at the airport

There's one at 1125 Coleman Avenue, so from 880, it after P/S/F and before the right to the long-term lot. I think it may be Park and Travel.

Parking was easier than P/S/F, paying was easier, transfer to flight was easier, transfer back was problematic (relating to a particular employee who ignored the dispatcher calls). I forget the price; I imagine it's comparable or I wouldn't have tried it at all.

I plan to try them again.

I have, in the past, gotten the voucher to pay LT rates in the ST lot. I suspect the reason they can make this guarantee, however, is that they have now upped the parking rates to such high levels that demand never exceeds supply anymore -- both ST and LT. It's cheaper to park at SFO!!

Agreed. SJC is more interested in recovering higher construction costs than to charge based on parking demand. Too bad it's becoming less convenient for me to fly my local airport.
