BART makes changes to SFO service
BART officials announced today that they are making changes that they believe will result in better service to the San Francisco airport line and cost savings for SamTrans, which is BART's partner on the San Francisco Peninsula line.
"We will save money and have added service,'' BART General Manager Thomas Margro said at a press briefing today. Beginning Feb. 9, BART will have two lines going to the San Francisco International Airport during peak commute hours, not just one. Based on ridership levels since the airport extension began service last June, the East Bay lines that will go to the San Francisco airport are the Pittsburg/Bay Point and Richmond lines. Currently, the Dublin/Pleasanton line goes directly to the San Francisco airport, but BART officials have found that the Pittsburg and Richmond lines carry more passengers to the airport. KPIX link |
