theme building at lax
Hi all,
New to the forum, would like to know if anyone States side can give me an update on when the (top-notch) Theme Building will re-open? If anybody has any info it would be greatly appreciated. Waiting in hope rather than expectation. Paul |
Welcome to FlyerTalk heathrow paul.
I assume you are referring to the Observation Deck of the LAX Theme Building. Unfortunately it has been closed since approximately September 11, 2001 due to security concerns and I believe there are no immediate plans for it to re-open. Perhaps one of our other FlyerTalkers can chime in with additional infomation. LAX Theme Building and Fact Sheet http://www.ags.uci.edu/~tmheaney/SNA/LAX/theme.html Encounter Restaurant, located just below the Observation Deck is open, 7 days a week. I've always enjoyed it. Encounter Restaurant - LAX http://www.encounterrestaurant.com/ http://www.iflylax.com/lax_encounter.html 209 World Way 310.215.5151 Its Hours Are: 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM 7 Days A Week Bon Appétit! :) ------------------ You can't miss something you haven't had. |
Thanks for taking the time to reply MRLIMO, so the restaurant below is open eh? Do you know if they mind people staying up there from opening to closing? I suppose as long as you keep buying food/drink they wont mind? I dont know if you or anyone else may have put this to the test! Purely on a personal point of discussion, do you not think it a little strange that the observation area is still closed whilst the restaurant remains open? I know the ob. deck is open air but the public presence there theoretically would deter any malicious activity up there! I would love to go back to LAX again (I havnt been since 9/11) but dont fancy travelling halfway round the world to stand on a car park all day. Come on people! Lets get this place open again for all to enjoy!!

Now that the restaurant has become "Encounter," it is certainly interesting. The decor looks as though a lava lamp has sprung a leak, the service is rather poor, and the food is a little too ambitious for what an airport restaurant can pull off (think fusion cuisine without the fusion). But the view is nice (but you can see relatively well from the parking lot 2A roof - its always vacant - if that's your goal).

I've never understood the reason that the observation deck is still closed.
Chalk another stupid over-reaction to 9/11 on the wall. |
