Getting from T1 to T5

Thanks to all who post in the "airports" section. I'm finding good information here about airports that I rarely transit.

I am planning a trip PHX-LAX-MBJ. PHX-LAX will be on HP or WN arriving in T1; LAX-MBJ departs from T5. I know there is an airport shuttle. Here are my questions...

If I take the terminal shuttle, how long should I "budget" for the trip (on a Saturday afternoon/evening?)
Is there a way to walk from T1 to T5? If so, how long would the walk take?
It's not that time is really an issue, but I like to know my options.

Thanks.

Bob

Hi,

You can walk past T2,3,4 turn the corner, walk past Tom Bradley Intl Terminal , turn the corner and you would be at T5.
Probably a 10-15min walk maximum depemding on how fast you walk.

A faster way to walk is to head straight south while downstairs at Terminal 1, to Terminal 7 (United). There are sidewalks part of the way, but even when they end, the route is pretty intuitive. Once you get to the United terminal, make a hard right and walk down to terminal five. Probably two hundred yards shorter then TBS' suggestion, although the route is not as obvious.

Hi,

The Airline Terminal "A" shuttles are very frequent and always empty. It would probably take 5 minutes or less to make the free trip.

If you wait more than 3-5 minutes for one of the "A" shuttles, I'd be very surprised.

If time isn't an issue, and you can stand those lovely fumes, walk. Although walking through the parking lots across to UA, then making a right, is the most "direct" way, you may find yourself walking into unintended obstacles. I'd walk on the upper level around the airport - and you get to see all the various airlines flying out of LAX.

Thanks for all of the responses. We have time to walk, but I wasn't really sure how far the walk was... or if it was possible.

Thanks again.

It's very easy. Do it the way Craig said; i.e., cross to the left of the parking garage.
