Visiting Big Basin State Park

We are going to be spending a few days in San Jose and want to make a day trip to Big Basin. We would be able to go on either a Saturday, Sunday or Monday. Just wondering if anyone can suggest why one of these days might be best?

Thanks.

If you are going to Big Basin from Silicon Valley, be aware of construction on Highway 9 above Saratoga. An old bridge is being replaced. A single lane Bailey bridge has been erected to allow automobile traffic through. Even that is closed at times (currently overnight?). There is a short detour available - the Apple commuters' secret short cut - it leads to Cupertino. Be prepared for a narrow road with single lane sections and with blind curves and blind hills.

I can't help with which day of the week to go. Also be aware that (at least over the summer) the park required reserved parking permits, even for random turnouts along the road.
