Caldecott Tunnel Closure - Highway 24 - planned power outage

Just a note that the tunnel is due to be closed tonight as part of the planned power outage. If you're heading to the airport tomorrow and normally travel that way, might want to start sorting out an alternate route and how much earlier you're going to have to leave.

From CALTRANS on Twitter:

We are preparing for full closures of the Caldecott Tunnel in @CCCounty and @AlamedaCounty on SR 24 & the Tom Lantos Tunnel along SR 1 in
@Pacifica as soon as this evening, due to the @PGE4Me Pro Active Public Safety Power Shutoff #PSPS. The tunnels cannot operate without power.

... The Caldecott Tunnel will stay OPEN during the planned power outage. PG&E says they will provide backup generation for the tunnel, so that when/if the power to the tunnel is cut, it can remain open to traffic

If it's Alameda County, is this the tunnel near the Claremont Hotel?

Not far from it. It goes from above the Rockridge area in Oakland and comes out in Orinda. The BART tracks also run along highway 24 before they go into the Berkeley Hills tunnel (different tunnel than the Caldecott). BART track power is not impacted by the planned outage as they draw from multiple power stations all over the Bay.
