Also, aside from Dystopian ogling, Anza Borrego is a Dark Sky community. Fantastic star gazing out there.

Just came back from this trip. Rented a car at IPL, drove to Salvation Mountain, then Bombay Beach, then back to Imperial. Peaceful ride, for sure.

So, what were your impressions of Bombay Beach? What was the temp? Was anyone outside, other than the dogs? Did you walk and crunch along the beach? In short, how are things at the end of the world? Please tell us.

Very relaxing over in Imperial County. A trifle hot, perhaps, but the landscapes and randomness helped make the trip.

I first drove to Salvation Mountain and wandered "down the yellow brick road." Kooky is an understatement...have you been?

Then, it was time for some Bombay Beach action. You know, corroded piers and boats, decrepit housing, and fish skeletons.

I'm having trouble uploading a second photo, but yeah, it was worth the trip.

Size: 432.5 KB The owner's been trying to sell the place for a while - and did once - OTOH, it appears that they're the last place in town open more than two days a week.

Wow! It's still all hapnin' at the corner of 2nd and A in Bombay Beach!

Haven't been to Salvation Mountain, but I might want to take in the ambience the next time I visit the end of the world. Seems to be a perfect place for it.

Thanks for the picture. I've never been to any place quite like Bombay Beach. It's truly bizarro.
