Cool A beautiful day in Big Sur and down the PCH

Had a couple of days to get from Monterey to San Luis Obispo so decided to drive down the PCH. It is gorgeous today.... Here are a few pics.

Big Sur
This is a pretty good restaurant, good burgers, etc., and a nice patio dining area overlooking the creek.

Great pics. Not such a great day in LA... smoggy, hot, and there's a fire in Ventura County.

Elephant Seals - about 6 miles north of San Simeon.

The beaches seem pretty crowded this year!

WR Hearst State Beach

Looks like a great place for a picnic and swimming. It looks like rental kayaks and canoes are available, too. I saw a couple of kayaks paddling around the pier.

I was beginning to notice some of the smoke from the Camarillo fires even this far north - a little brown.

Old town San Simeon.

This place has a nice sandwich deli inside.

You can barely see Hearst Castle up on the hill just to the left of he church spire.

A little gem of a motel. Days Inn in San Simeon, which I got for a ridiculously low price. Big rooms with balcony/patio, fridge/micro. Great front desk staff. I was very pleasantly surprised.

That's it for today!

Yeah, a bit of that smoke seems to have made its way as far north as San Simeon. It's mixing with the early fog.

Overall, though, a spectacular day along the coast, in the 60s and low 70s.

I may go up to Hearst Castle tomorrow. I haven't been there in years.
