TSA PreCheck at San Diego

Does anyone know if they will finally implement TSA Precheck in San Diego once the new security area opens in Terminal 2?

A few weeks ago a TSA agent told me there would be one once the new lanes were opened but I don't think it has happened yet. Not all new lanes are active yet from what I have read.

As of last week, the new security area IS open. There's no PreCheck yet, but they also don't have any AIT machines yet so every line is a WTMD. It was quick and pleasant going through security.

As this topic is about one airport, we'll move this to the relevant Destination forum for further discussion. Thanks. :) /JY1024, TravelBuzz co-moderator

Pre Check is now open at SAN in Terminal 2 adjacent to the United check in area. Went through it today... No line at all at 6:30am. Awesome.

About time!

Is it only at the UA side, or is it also at the AA side?

Just cleared precheck at T2-East. The rarely used (unused?) area to the right is the precheck line.

Woohoo! It's been a few months since I've traveled on UA. Great news.

How early should one with TSA PreCheck arrive at the San Diego airport?

Question.

For AC flights leaving SAN, how early should one arrive at the San Diego airport?
We have TSA precheck and carry-on only.

Thanks.

I've only ever flown UA and Westjet out of SAN, but have had Precheck at least the last 8-10 times and security has taken all of 3-5 minutes with Precheck--very fast! Depending on whether or not you are checking bags, anywhere from 60-90 minutes will be more than sufficient. It's a pretty good airport to get through.

Ditto on it being very fast. I was always more worried about SD traffic then SAN security lines where I was commuting to SD (so much so, I drove from Del Mar to LAX rather than going south )

I usually arrive at the airport one hour prior to flight departure. With TSA Pre, it's easy to clear, [edit-redacted] so no need to waste your time at a pretty boring airport.
