Macau Hostels?
Macau
the pearl of Asian casinos. But the hotels are expensive 4*++ I wonder if any hostel like places exist? dbase |
There's one called Augusters.. not impressive to say the least. There's a few smaller guesthouses as well, look into those.... they won't cost much more, either.

I recently spent a night at the San Va which was in a great location but was a really old dumpy place. It gets lots of raves in the backpacker lists but it was pretty bad. There was a place near the San Va that looked a little newer, the Ko Wah, but I didn't go scope out a room....
Macau was an amazing place.... have fun! |
Consider the Pousada de Mong Ha. It's a student run hotel on Mong Ha hill that is part of the IFT tourism school. While the students aren't as polished as they will be in a few years, it was a great stay for a reasonable amount. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and breakfast was good. The only downside is that it's a bit removed from the main part of town, but they do have a shuttle, they are close to a bus stop, and taxis are cheap. The rates depend on a number of factors such as the day and time of year, but if you stay during the week they will give you 20% off if you join their "friends club", which is free. Finally, since they are government run, you don't pay taxes. Last month, we paid 480 patacas a night all in, or about 60 USD. Not hostel prices, but far from casino hotel prices.
