American domestic LCC's aren't always lower cost compared to the "big airlines." During recent shopping for air tickets to Florida, depending on what day I was choosing to fly actually made it cheaper to book United versus Frontier and even Southwest. Although I have to pay for bags on United, the added price of fees for layovers evened it out. Plus, I don't like the idea of flying on an airline where I can't get an assigned seat.

Yea, that's true. YOu need to dig a bit deeper to find the deal, and besides spirit I don't expect an automatic discount wheng going "small".

new website launched

Hello guys, I have just found new website which look quite well - http://www.whichairline.com - but you all know that - something new look good and it is useless in the end. Hope that this won't be the cas because it seems there are quite useful things (however it looks it is really new and the content is not done yet).

I particularly like Skyscanner.net - if you have dates but no destinations you can even request FROM: London TO: Everywhere.

Don't have exact dates? It will check month by month. A great resource.

Reviews, Comparisons, Descriptions of European LCCs

I've found lots of sites that will tell me which LCCs fly where and price them out, but I have not had much luck finding many reviews or comparisons of LCCs. Since I know the devil is in the details in pricing and you get what you pay for, I'd really like to find some reviews.

I'm particulary interested in SpanAir, Vueling and Air Europa and found a few posts here on FT, but thought I'd see if anyone was familiar with any site that compared flying with these lines.

Thanks

I normally use whichbudget.com to scout out LCC's to get around Europe, but like Southwest in the US, don't assume the LCC is going to be the cheapest.

Case in point: Wanted to get six people from NCE to CDG/ORY in October. It seemed that EasyJet was going to be the winner, but just for laughs I checked out the Air France website. All in English, very easy to navigate, and it turned out their fare (o/w) was about $50 (fares are priced in wharever currency you want). Plus, they had flights all day, about every hour, as opposed to EasyJet's 6:00AM and 10:00PM usual offerings.

Note: The flight was on a Saturday - If we were flying on a Friday or a Sunday, the o/w price was over $450!

Came across www.Gofly.com but can't find anything about them except on their own site. Anyone know anything about them?
