Tom911 in Dublin
I'm at the Four Courts Hostel tonight, in a 6 bed room, for about $29 a night. It's on the river, just about 2 blocks away from Kinlay House, for those familiar with it. I have a roommate from Spain that is here to practice his English (which gives me a chance to try my minimal Spanish). Room is sparking clean, en suite, and has a view out to the river (which may signal noise when it times to sleep). I'll find out later tonight. Big dining area, and internet access for a fee (though Easy Everything is just a few blocks down the river).
edited to add (a day later): there is a lot of street noise with trucks going by. Although breakfast is included (toast, cereal), I probably would not stay here strictly on the noise issue. Had a rough time sleeping last night, and was up at 6a.m. Room is just fine, and good location, but the street noise is driving me crazy. |
another recommend hostel
i stay at citi hostel just south of st. stephens green near harcourt st. the 4 person dorm room had en-suite facilities though using the shower with a push faucett was a challenge. the hostel is a series of connected townhouses so there are no simple ways to get to one's assigned room. very clean, though there was a fan or motor nearby that was annoying. about $28 pp weekend night in high season. no 2 day min on weekends that many dublin hostels require.

Hello all, I do apologise for resurrecting this thread again, but i would be travelling to Dublin for a short break from 19th to 22nd December, and am currently looking for accommodation. The Globetrotters seems really great (I want the breakfast!!), but because there are 4 of us, we really would prefer to get a 4 person dorm rather than a 12 person dorm.
Does anyone have any other ideas as to which great hostel to stay in that has smaller dorms at a price similar to the Globetrotters (A similar breakfast would be a bonus!)? A central location minutes from O'Connell Street and the rest of town is also preferred. FYI, the Globetrotters is GBP13 pppn for that period that I would be staying. Many thanks in advance!! :) |
I found this
http://www.hosteldublin.com/findabed...gq0cec2t39wmcb which might be of help. Location wise, I'd stay out of Temple Bar if possible because it's Xmas Party Season so everybody will be on the p*ss on their office parties & the last thing you'll want to hear when you're trying to get some kip is a drunken rendition of Fairytale of New York or Santa Claus Is Coming To Town!!!! :D |

I stayed at the Avalon house my first & last nights in Dublin. Slept well there and people were considerate & reasonably quiet. |
I'll probably go back to Kinlay House next trip.
