baggage limits & checked baggage

in years gone by, we used to pack up to our maximum baggage limit, which may have been 46kgs each. Now, we often fly with airlines where baggage limit is 23kgs each.

We're not missing anything. Now we wear 1/2 the clothes we pack rather than 1/4.

We even managed to take skis, boots & poles & stay under 23kgs, just.

Yup. Lots of people travel for 2-3 weeks with carry-on. For some reason people feel obligated to travel with things they know they won't need.

that's because they can (up to their baggage limit)

Can see the day, where it will be normal to pay for every kgs of luggage, inc carry on & your personal weight. Makes sense, the more you weigh the more fuel the aircraft burns to get you there.

There just has to be an easy way to do it.

They already do it on small aircraft.

Maybe airfares will be like ...

from A to B with up to 80kgs total, up to 100kgs total, up to 120kgs total & at check in if you weigh more in total(bags & self) you simply pay more like now.

Imagine, the huge amounts of stuff airlines would have to carry & then there might be mroe spce for paying freight.
