Missing 1st leg of Flight, boarding Second
Hey guys,
Random Question..... Could I miss the 1st leg of my Flight and board only at the 2nd ? IE: I have a flight which is Dublin to LAX, via Heathrow London.... I know the rule is that, if I do not board at Dublin, then the ticket is cancelled, so my question is more of: If by bad chance my flight to Dublin (from UK) is delayed by over 3hrs, which means I would miss my Dublin-->---LAX flight (UK to DUB = own ticket), could I make my way to London Heathrow which is where the 2nd Leg starts, and pay the difference in cost ? 99% certain will see us fly to Dublin easy peasy, and then do the flight back to the UK and onto LAX with no issues... But I like to know what u can and cant do in the event something goes wrong (ie, long delay or cancelled flight). If it was a case of being billed £300 per person to be able to board at London, its handy to know.... |

Because the first leg of your DUB-LHR-LAX itinerary would also be cancelled as a no-show. You are on a separate ticket from UK>DUB. You are not connecting in DUB on a single itinerary. |

The BAEC forum has plenty of information on doing this. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ic-thread.html |
This question comes up a lot and was answered already, but if you go way, WAY back it was possible on certain airlines if you got boarding passes printed in advance and just used that to walk on.
But those days are long gone and anyone born then is old enough to drink now. ;) And I'm kinda glad the statute of limitations has expired. |
