Cheapest option for MAN-Lon STR transfer
Ok... Could not find a flight...only to LHR
Flight was cheap on Virgin...
Megabus.com looks not to bad...
Anyone did the transfer from victoria station to easy bus station?
Or will it be better to start from victoria to stn?
Is megabus reliable with timetables?
Actually I dont have so much time as we are only staying the weekend in manchester...however...original flight was rebooked and did not fit into the further travel plan...so the only chance was to reebook to STN

You could also get the train via Peterborough/Ely. It's not the world's fastest train, but it means you've got a single, cross-platform change, to go direct to Stansted Airport, and if you're creative about splitting your tickets (e.g. at Nottingham) you can get a decent fare.

Ok thankx...quite new to this...never used any train in Uk...
So I buy a ticket from MAN to nottingham and than nottingham to STN Airport?
What is a normal or better cheap price one way for 2 ppl?
I have no idea what price on UK trains is cheap or expensive

trains are easy and simply, everyone uses them in the UK.
best is buying in advance, but this limits you to an exact train. Just buy the ticket at the station. If you want to split, then just buy both at the station.

as linked above, all fares here: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/

Sorry, missed this.
Train travel in the UK is pretty everyday - there's no check-in for trains, you just turn up at the station, board, and sort yourself out.
However, the pricing model is increasingly like the airlines, for longer-distance journeys. So, a walk-up fare gives you flexibility, but comes at a hefty premium; the discount fares are completely inflexibly, space-limited and cheap.
A straight, off-peak, walk-up from Manchester to Stansted is quite expensive at £74.30. You'd need to change in either Peterborough or Ely.
By contrast, booking 2 weeks out, you can get a discounted fare from Manchester to Peterborough (direct) for £23, then Peterborough to Stansted (direct) for £10.
(Note that these are on regional, rather than inter-city services...)
You could also travel via London - book a month out, and this could be as little as £22.
(The connection via London is pretty decent - you catch the Victoria Line direct from Euston to Tottenham Hale, and there's a step-free transfer from there to the Stansted Express platform).
