Swim to/from the Airport to save money

Based on http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/budge...l#post16077010

Lets take the challenge a step further!

Airports you can swim to?

I will start off with MLE (Male, Maldives) and VCE (Venice, Italy).

(I took the local ferries)

Done it. swam from Ptotestant Cay over to the seaplane dock at STX. Saved a water taxi fare of $3. 00.

I think this is more meaningful if we restrict it to airports that are located on islands, separated by water from the main city they serve. You know, places you couldn't walk to even if you wanted to. No road or bridge either.

SIT and YTZ come to mind.

People could definitely do Reagan - but depending on how close you get, you might get picked up by the authorities!

But, the DC Tri and Nation's Triathalon all swim fairly close to Reagan, just not onto land on the Virginia side.

Nice thread - but I really do like walking to and from airports, especially on Mileage Runs to save money (just did a 10 mile or so walk to/from SAN) and to get to the airport (I live 15 minutes from Plane to Couch from DCA)

HNL?

Pretty sure once you hauled out by the Reef Runway, you'd still be outside the fence, though.
