Profile codes supersede promo, even when...
Every reservation I make with Budget attaches my name to my Fastbreak account number (even without me including it, and even when I book on a third party website), and the codes in the profile supersede the promo I BOOKED. I know they're trying to be helpful, but if I don't watch retrospectively, it slips by.
Do others encounter this? Any advice? I know I'm pleading the lazy case, but it's a lot of extra effort to go back into my profile preferences everytime I want to use a new code. Or to have Budget open a "case" to investigate what happened, after the fact. If this is a pattern, then I would note that speed (Fastbreak) is a major competitive point, this doesn't occur with other rental car companies, and it puts Fastbreak at a disadvantage. Thank you. |
Not sure why that's happening to you. I have a code in my profile too but I can override it, you should be able to too. When making a reservation, on step 2 of 4, you have the option to choose your cars. On the left hand side under "my offer codes" click on change, will take you back to step 1 of 4, input the new bcd and click continue. back at step 2 of 4, you can choose your cars again. note at the top it says "choose your rate" . You should have your profile code, rent more save more, budget.com and your promo code listed as different rate options to choose from. Hope this helps.

Thank you, reddawngrl. :)

Cookie?
It's also possible that you have a persistent cookie (probably from Budget) on your computer that automatically fills in the Fastbreak account number when you hit the Budget site, no matter whether you enter directly or from a third party website.
One way to check is to attempt a booking with Budget on a different computer and see if the same problem occurs. If it doesn't, check the cookies on your computer for any from Budget and delete them, reboot, and try again (or you can just delete all cookies, but that may cause you to lose some other "remember me" fill-ins). |
Thank you, Counsellor. I do clear my cookies and temporary files after every session. (Sort of like cleaning up my blocks after playing. :) ) But I shall give it a try on another computer. Thanks again.

Wirelessly posted (FlyerTalk.com/wap is fun : Opera/9.50 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.1.11313/528; U; en))
Book via contionental.com. Add your budget fastbreak# to your co traveler profile. When you search for cars, do not input your fb#. After your rate is selected, you fb# will be included in your res, but the discount codes will not get overwritten. |
It's the CC#
While picking up a Budget car recently, I brought up this issue. The agent said that the credit card is what does it (if it's the same as the one in the Fastbreak profile), automatically adding one's Fastbreak number - and the codes in the member's profile - when a reservation is not made as a Fastbreak reservation.
(Since encountering the problem before, I've just changed the code in my profile to the one I want, as necessary, before each rental.) |
I had a similar issue a few weeks ago and yes, it was the credit card number that was causing the issue. I changed the default credit card number to another one and poof, all is good.

Another option:
Once you've entered your pickup and dropoff points, you get to step 2. Directly underneath Step 2 of 4, choose my rate There is a line of codes. Pick a different code and see what the result is. I just did a test and I have three codes to choose from. X code, rent more save more, and a BCD code from an email. Try that? |
