If not, do you just dont get the upgrade or do they even decline the bonus miles ?

I tried using that promotion and it doubled the price from the regular non-promo price. Double the cost for 500 bonus miles and an upgrade...I don't think so.

I am also heading to Phoenix in January and am having a difficult time finding a decent price. I have coupons, upgrades etc. and still find the rates rediculously high. any advice to get a bettter rate than a savings of 20 bucks?
