Any discounts for car rental in Hawaii?

A group of friends and I are traveling to Hawaii (flying into HNL) in early April. We are looking for a weekly car rental but can't find a decent deal at all. The taxes and fees are almost 45% of the base rate! We're looking for anything from a 4-seater up to a minivan (we'll have 7 or 8 people total).

If anyone has any pointers on discount codes, other places to rent from, etc, It'd be greatly appreciated.

What are your travel dates and pick-up/drop-off times?
Do you have memberships like AAA(which state), USAA, Amex card, Costo, AARP?

What is the lowest price you've already found, w/what company, and for what car type?

We are renting a minivan in Honolulu from April 5-12. Price after tax is $347.50. Best price I could find.... if you know of one better let me know.

Use BCD X474200.

My experience In HNL (mostly off peak travel) has been last minute pricing is 1/2 the one week out pricing. Typically though, we can take whatever is available (as just two of us). You may want to book what you need and then two days before arrival, recheck. We just paid about $90 for two day rental of intermediate SUV about a week ago. If you are a fast break account holder, you can get $25 in budget bucks for every two, two + day rentals, plus some miles. Just compare with Priceline first as their pricing is usually where Budget gets to at two days out.

Advice sought!

I have a few rentals coming up in Hawaii, all but the first one booked through Budget (car class in parentheses):
HNL, 1 day (A), $35
HNL, 2 days (A), $106
LIH, 6 days (B), $255
KOA, 6 days (B), $255
HNL, 2 days (A), $106

Based in Norway I used the budget.no website, which means CDW and LI are included (they are also required by my credit card insurance that handles any excess/deductible in case of damage). Also unlimited mileage.

Budget were actually even cheaper than the comparison sites that I tried, and I found no codes that lowered the rate further, although it was sometimes possible to save 5-10% by prepaying.

Am I paying too much or do these rates seem reasonable?
Is there a reason Budget is cheaper than the competition, one that I should be aware of?

I have booked the smallest/cheapest cars as I am sure they are sufficient; there are only two of us travelling, and I don't normally have a car so any car will be an upgrade :)
