That is MIGHTY impressive timing LeisureFirst ^
I am reallly thinking about doing a cab(form the Grosvenor House)to LHR for our morning return on 7/7 since it will be our first BA F and I want to enjoy everything that entails at T5.

Not to be crass butwhat was the fare?

If you book a small mini-cab firm, you will probably be looking at about 30-35...
Company Like Addison Lee, probably around the 50-60 mark...
Private Hire Merc or the likes, around the 100 mark...

At the end of the day it's a tad over 50 minutes on the tube from Covent Garden to T5. Not too bad when you know the journey time is nearly 'guaranteed' .
By road it's about 20 miles door to door...easily do-able with no traffic about.

Nothing to do with the centre of London but thought worth a mention.

Our taxi fare from the Sheraton Skyline to T5 was 14 which I thought was reasonable.

Reasonable?

Was that a black cab or a mini cab?

I think that is quite expensive for the distance... maybe it's just me...

And there is a free bus service, not the hotel hoppa.

Obviously I wouldn't be seen dead on it, but I hear HIDDY is far less discriminating.

It was a very comfortable people carrier driven by a man in a grey suit. We had luggage so the free bus was out of the question and the hotel hoppa was a rip off.

31 minutes from Hyatt Churchill (Portman Square) to LHR T1, via Dot-2-Dot van service (admittedly, it was at 04:00)

Nope. It was an MFU from a I-fare, so not eligible for that. But the car I had was a lot more comfortable than a cab..

I had an S-class Merc. for 55 inc. VAT. But that is because after calling a couple of companies and getting quotes around 90-100, I asked my PA for her advice and she went through our corporate booking system (but paid personally with my credit card).

Happy Pride! to all. And it's a big one here in New York, of course. The 40th anniversary. I may not be old enough to remember Stonewall, but I was in New York for the 25th anniversary in 1994 and had one of the most memorable weeks of my life.

I'll be on Fire Island next weekend, with some friends - July 4 and all that.
