UK May CW / CE sale (book by 30 June)

A new CW / CE ex UK sale has been announced on 13th May.

This has to be booked by 30 June for travel from 1 July (CW) or 1 June (CE) and the tickets are non changeable.

On a number of CW routes a well priced F u/g offer (e.g. US destinations £499 per leg) is also available.

It is, however, possible that the BA website has an error ! For the US, the travel dates are stated on ba.com to be up to 31 October. The Trailfinders website shows 13 December as the end date and a dummy booking on ba.com confirms the Trailfinders date. I have not yet checked other destinations.

Prices seem to extend beyond end of October, certainly for NYC.

October is pricing just under £2,200 whilst November (dates I'm looking at) are pricing £2,215 for 2 return in CW. Very tempting to U/G to F on the way out... the day of my g/f's 30th!

The slightly higher fare refelcts the higher APD from 1st November I think. Probably too complicated for BA to market the sale with different price points after Oct 31st.

Have compiled the full list of fares (see above post). There are a few destinations not in this sale that were in the last - TPA, MCO and NRT the most notable.

Also, I notice the CE fares have all changed - those to Germany seem to be ~£50 lower this time around, all others seem a little bit higher. There are a few new routes and a few have disappeared - this probably reflects the CE route changes in place this summer

Finally, the First upgrades to BKK/SIN/SYD are £600/£600/£750 e/w this time compared to £900/£900/£900 last time. Nice!

It's not just that. For example LHR-MAD has disappeared from the sale (it was a very attractive £150 each way, including on the IB-operated flights, and first time I have regarded CE as reasonable value on that route). I happened to notice that because I do that route a lot, so I expect there are others examples of routes that still exist but which have been removed from the sale.

It's almost 2 months since the last WT and WT+ sale ended. Anyone with a crystal ball able to predict if there might be any sale prices soon? Or are the economy seats selling well enough thanks to all the business class people tightening their purse strings?

I want to book flights to the USA in June and August, and prices are currently rather high.

In your experienced opinions, what do you think are the chances of NRT being added to sale? I recall that the last sale had a number of cities added later on.

I need to book a ticket to NRT for Oct but I'm wondering whether to do it now or wait just in case they do offer a sale fare.

Historically destinations have not been added to a sale. In some cases where a sale was extended destintions have been removed.

NRT is a tricky one - it didn't appear in the last CW sale although it *was* available in the recent 2-4-1 sale (along with every other destination). It has previously been in CW sales (at £1,999 or £2,199 iirc) however that was when they had 2 flights a day. Now they are down to 1 flight a day demand and capacity for premium cabins must be more closley matched.

"SYD/MEL - £849 when booked on ba.com - valid on BA and QF metal - requires 21 day advance"

It seems very restrictive to have a 21 day advance purchase requirement on a fare that is only available for departures up to 30 days away = 23rd June. Does this mean this fare is only really available on BA.com for departures between 14th June and 23rd June as of todays date = 21 days away?? This seems to be a pretty pointless sale unless you are travelling in one specific week in June. Or am I reading the terms and conditions wrongly?

Yes - you can only book the £849 fare on ba.com if your outbound sectors are 14th to 23rd June. It's not a sale that is being marketed by ba.com - that fare is basically a (nice) anomaly that has appeared as a result of a typically short qantas sale. If you want to book an outbound sector before 14th June you need to book on qantas.com and pay an extra £150.

Of course, no sooner do I say they never add destiantions and they have gone and added MCO!!

Actually I think they have simply cleared up the booking dates for the fare sale. All the CE dates are now thru Dec 31st, the First/CW dates typically thru Dec 13th (with MCO only available 1st Dec to 13 Dec which may explain why it has just appeared). I'll update posts #1 and #63 in due course to reflect this.

I don't think this changes the steer on NRT - if you have BA miles then NRT will *probably* appear in the next WT/WT+ sale where it should be MFUable. No idea when that will be though - there hasn't been a WT/WT+ sale for ages - I half expected one to start this (bank holiday) weekend.
