Could be a fun month - the Club World £1,006 seat sale is in full swing and there is now an 'Advent Calendar' promotion promising 21 days of Christmas promotions (which suggests the Christmas sale IS going to start on December 22nd )

The promotion is being discussed here:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ar-offers.html

Assuming we get some decent deals it would be good to record them here. I'll make a start here but am travelling so will find it difficult to update daily...

Day 1 - Longhaul Club World all seats £1,006 over Christmas period
Day 2 - Longhaul Club World all seats £1,006 over Christmas period

BA Economy and WT+ Sale - December 22nd 2011 to January 24th 2012

Economy and WT+ sale to pretty much every BA destination for travel from about December 25th 2011 through November 2012. Dates vary depending on destination. Note: As per usual flights in July and the first half of August are not on sale.

The sale page is here http://www.britishairways.com/travel...e/public/en_gb (although t is not 100% accurate)

Advanced Purchase of 21 days for WT+. In some cases no Advance purchase requirements for WT fares. Minimum stay Saturday night however if you book Flight+Hotel this can often be avoided

North America - very similar to last sale, a slight softening on the majority of fares. A few of the fares have seen increases/decreases of ~£40. The cheapest fares on these routes seem to be in Jan/Feb/March and there don't seem to be any sale fares in Oct/Nov.

Caribbean and Latin America - very similar to last sale. Buenos Aires the standout fare down about £100 (£50 in WT) from the last sale. Sao Paulo down about £60 taking the WT+ under £1,000

Middle East - a mixed bag of ups and downs but nothing massively changed from the last sale. Best prices generally Jan/Feb/Mar, nothing much in Oct/Nov

South Asia - generally higher than last sale, the really cheap WT+ fares are no more. Most fares available Jan-Sep and July seems to be available to these destinations.

Far East and Oz - Hong Kong up £120 in WT+, up £60 in WT compared to last time. Shanghai and Singapore also up. Sydney only available Apr/May/Jun, others very a lot but nothing in Oct/Nov

South Africa - steep rises since last time to Cape Town, Jo'burg and Nairobi, particularly in WT+. Cairo in WT is the bargain at £274 - that may make an attractive TP run for 70 points plus a weekend away for some people.

Here is a full list of BA long haul destinations and prices for this sale period:

I am using the low price finder as the main source for this data but it's not 100% accurate. If anything is way out please let me know as the sale page is even less accurate so impossible to cross check.

u - fare has gone up (more than £40)
d - fare has gone down (more than £40)
n - new fare

Interesting, but as always date-dependent.

We booked WT+ to IAD for Sep/Oct 2 days ago at £791 - today it's £818.

If we could have had it for £687 we'd have been very pleased!

Indeed and it is well nigh impossible to find out with any confidence where the cheapest fares actually are without trying a booking. The main table is now complete and hopefully ~90% accurate.

I've added some detail on when the fares are generally available too...

Your efforts are much appreciated ^

One thing on the Low Price Finder that always irritates me [personal problem, I know] is that if you look at flying to DC ... Economy shows to BWI, WT+ is usually BWI as well, but if you select CW or F it shows IAD. Is there a subliminal message?

BA CW 'Sale' - 22nd December 2011 to 24th January 2012 - or is it?

There is some debate as to whether this is an actual sale but there do seem to be some slightly lower prices than usual so I'll capture them here.

It's a bit of a moving target and there is a full discussion on this sale here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...y-8-00-am.html

The sale started on 22nd December with a limited number of destinations in Club although there has been none or little marketing of the these fares. On 29th December more fares were added, notably to the Caribbean.

I'm using the low fare finder on ba.com to look for LH destinations that seem to have a lower price than usual and comparing with the last sale fares.

I have bolded the fares that I think are in the sale and underlined those that are at previous sale prices or look to be particularly good fares.

North America - a few destinations 'on sale' but £250-£500 more expensive than last time although similar levels to the sale before that. MCO and TPA the notable exceptions, they are cheaper and the stand out fares
29th Dec - Atlanta added
11th Jan - Houston, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Washington added

Caribbean and Latin America - not much on sale San Juan for some reason
29th Dec - Almost all now on sale at an excellent price of ~£1,600. Kingston the standout at £1,013. Cancun down to £1,313 for select dates in Sept/Oct.

Middle East - AUH and BAH at close to the usual sale price. DXB a little but off the regular non-sale price so I think it is 'on sale'

India - all on sale but about £250 more than the last sale. *note these only available until 10th Jan - thanks Globaliser

Far East and Oz - some on sale at about £250 more than last sale. Sydney £3,340 in Feb/Mar then £4221.
29th Dec - Sydney no longer in sale

Africa - JNB and CPT on sale but £250 more than usual. MRU the stand out fare at £1713 through September.

Apart from Tampa and Orlando, and a marginal Boston, there's not a lot there!

San Juan as well - might be a decent start point for a TP run as well (I'm really scraping the barrel for positives )

Tampa fares are £2K pp in CW in July, a place we considered going to. We always book our CW summer holiday in the January sale, so I am hopeful something else will crop up!

Personally, I apply the duck test.

However, it's worth noting that one should always check the fare rules. Although I haven't done a comprehensive search, there are some catches: I happened to notice that for some destinations (BOM, MAA and HYD for example), the "ticket by" date is 10 January 2012 (as opposed to 24 January 2012 for the bulk of the sale fares).
