For future reference for any gold/first flying out of LGW N.
This is what was offered Dec 14, 2008

Breakfast
starters - selection of plain or fruit yoghurt. selection of cereals.
bakery - hot toast. selection of pastries. grilled bacon white bap. sauteed mushroom and tomato white bap.
accompaniments - orange marmalade, honey and preserves.

Rest of the day
starters - fresh soup of the day served with a variety of continental breads. selection of freshly prepared sandwiches. selection of two freshly prepared salads. fresh vegetable rudites accompanied by a selection of dips.
cheese and fruits - selection of seasonal fruit. fresh fruit salad. selection of cheese with biscuits, celery and grapes.
afternoon tea - your choice from a range of tea sandwiches and traditional English cakes served with a pot of freshly brewed tea.

I had soup (pumpkin potato) with many Johnnie Walker blue. Warmed me up after a chilly cabin over from KRK.

Are these the type of amusing vegetables that would have appeared on That's Life a few years ago??

The word you are looking for is Crudités. I must admit that I missed that one until the replies started coming in!

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry 8820: Opera/9.50 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.1.11355/574; U; en))

I really enjoyed the soup. The sandwiches were good but if they have pasta next door next time I will pop by and grab a bite.

I see. As a Oneworld Emerald I always use the LGW First lounge. Have I been missing something better in the Terraces, at least with regard to food?

the bacon roll is available all day although the menu seems to indicate otherwise. The staff are excellent - there were no prawn sandwiches on display recently but they were very happy to make some up for me. The soup is also usually pretty good.

In the Summer there tend to be more families in the Terraces. If you want peace I recommend the First lounge.
