Exclamation BA117 to JFK: Sat 13 Dec: Does anyone know why this is delayed?

Does anyone on the spot know why BA117 to JFK is so badly delayed today? I take this flight in a few days to connect to an AA flight on a different PNR (I know, I know!) and would like to think the 2 hour delay is a one-off not a typical outcome for this flight?

CCayley, I've pulled your post out of the original thread, to give your question more exposure.

Don't know the reason for the now 3hr delay to the departure of BA117 this morning, but its stats are 55% on time arrival with an average of 24 mins delay. It is estimated into JFK 3.5hrs late probably due to headwinds.

Only the additional 30mins delay due to headwinds, obviously.

I may have had a hand in this one... Tech problem on the planned aircraft.

On a practical level, if you find yourself sitting in London facing a missed connection in JFK onto a domestic or Caribbean flight I suggest you call AA from the lounge and ask for a same day confirmed change. The cost of that is $50 IIRC and well worth it to avoid throwing yourself on their mercy to carry you standby. FWIW most of the US legacies offer similar same-day change fees.

Thanks for the information/tips. I guess I'll just hope that lightning won't strike twice! What would have annoyed me most if I'd been flying today would have been getting up at the crack of dawn only to find I could have had a lie in...

Yes, if you keep playing so rough with your toys, they'll take 'em away and won't give you any shiny news ones to play with.
