TATL Air Traffic Map - Over a 24 Hour Period

I found it fascinating to watch the swarms of flights between N.A. and Europe alternate over a 24 period.

Edit: Now linked to the HD version - click full-screen icon in lower right corner for better detail (thanks pjoalfa)

Wow!

That is very cool. Looks like the same system that was shown for 9/11 showing all the planes landing when the FAA grounded flights. Wish I know where to watch that live.

Thanks for sharing that.

edited to add: was searching and it seems what is shown is a simulation, nevertheless, very cool.

Further edit: HERE it is in HD

I remember years and years ago having a Star Alliance screensaver that showed something very similar. Think you can find it at the address below. Only shows Star Alliance traffic though!

http://www.staralliance.com/en/trave...reensaver.html

I ditched it and got one of how a straight four engine's put together and how the firing sequence works!

My screensaver is still the eSkyGuide version of this, which shows all flights in the eSkyGuide database. I don't think it's still available for download, though. However, it looks like I still have the downloaded file saved somewhere if anyone's interested.

For *A, try http://www.staralliance.com/en/trave...reensaver.html

The blobs are colour coded to identify airlines. At one time, that was simple. As there are now more *A members than colours, it's a bit more complicated.

The Star expansion has been aggressive to say the least. I count 21 members now, plus regionals, with 4 more definites coming next year. Whilst it's great in one sense for *Golds as the network is bigger than ever, I can't help but be concerned they're watering down the alliance which is going to leave the lounges across the network flooded as huge numbers of passengers suddenly become *Golds.

I was sent the video the OP has listed a few days ago, and it is fantastic to watch! The patterns of traffic are just incredible to watch over a 24hr cycle.
