OT How many times should I say 'Thanks?'

The title probably says it all....but I often wonder...should I continually take up space to say thanks each time I get an answer to a question, or should one assume that thanks are in order and taken for granted ?
(ps Thanks !)

I think the netiquette is not to say thanx if that is all you are going to post, but thanx with a follow up question would certainly be appropriate. On FT you can always send a PM thank you if a poster has helped you out.

My advice would be that if you're planning to say thanks, do so before the thread goes off-topic... therefore I would do it within the first 5 posts?! Definitely only once per thread as well, you don't want to appear needy!!

I do feel some form of acknowledgement is required - to post information/ answers and have nothing back from the OP to acknowledge they have even noticed the fruits of my labours is

I think that to come back every so often and say thank you is not too much -sometimes people ask questions and so you can combine both. I never think that we can thank others enough.

My beloved said only yesterday that he misses me each and every time that I am away and he is so thankful to have me.

(I have to confess that there was a big lump and a moist eye when I heard that.. I'll forget the prenuptual and let him have everything!

My take is that if you've asked a question and received usefull responses, saying 'Thank You' is never out off place.

I don't remember saying anything of the sort.

Got to agree with that.
I don't like the poster who asks a question and never comes back and says thanks. They go in my little black book with a 'bugger off' note attached to their name, for the next time they ask one.
