Shock - Nothing went wrong - everything was perfect

Flew to LAX yesterday and it must have been the perfect experience ever on BA and ok we were flying First (or is that FIRST or first), which is not normally something I would do - but a combination of On Business points and a very good fare was too difficult to resist.

Check in - perfect, no queues
Security - No queues
Straight into the Concorde Room (that door is a godsend for not having to brave the shopping)
Welcomed by a delightful host, asked what we would like to drink, brought to us, then asked about food and where we would like to eat it
Perfect eggs served about 5 mins later in the dining room area
Asked for an appointment at the Elemis Spa at 10:50 - 2 available at 11am... I nearly fainted.
Excellent spa treatment
Went over to B39 - Boarding was great (there could have been a bit better queue control - ie Fast Track was slow track - but we just waited til everyone had boarded so no big deal)
Left on time
Great crew, food and drink service excellent on board - couldn't fault it
Got about 3 hours of sleep
Like the penhaligon stuff in the BAg
Landed on time
Jetty pulled up at door 1 - so straight off the plane
Immigration at LAX - empty - so got straight through
10 mins for luggage - so not too bad and then out on the 405 with light traffic and perfect weather

Amazing!

So nice to hear when someone reports their good experience of BA - we know there are many who do have good times to report. Glad to hear about it. ^

It is good to read a positive report and mainly this is also my experience of F. Not sure why priority boarding seems to go wrong from time to time.......

Looking forward to my first T5 F experience!

No, no !!! There are more of us around .

I was upgraded FIRSTward on my last South Atlantic trip home, and I now LOVE BA. Unconditional love.

Does that make me cheap ?

I second that. I hardly ever have a bad flight in F, the only thing that does go wrong is the priority boarding and I would say that is more like every time, not time to time I am afraid.

If they could get me a car to the aircraft (like LH do - VC10 boy you rock! ) or just allow me to board without having to run the gauntlet of a packed air bridge it would be almost perfect.

I do not understand why BAA didn't put twin airbridges in, at least, T5B.

If FRAPORT can do it to all gates at T2 why are BAA such cheapskates?

When we took off this evening and I looked down over T5B I am sure I saw twin air bridges at two stands at the South end both connected to 747s or were my eyes deceiving me? I hadn't been drinking, honest

I have never understood this, other than I can only assume BAA charge £££ for dual airbridge and BA doesn't want to pay.

EK and SQ use dual airbridges at LHR.

On arrival on the A380 at LHR, you still have to wait for the ten year old air bridge operatives to get their act together, like it's a surprise to them that a plane just came to the gate.

In SIN, SQ use three airbridges on the A380, so the 12 Suites pax have an airbridge all to themselves. Unfortunately, they don't all arrive at the a/c at the same time, so you can find yourself waiting while J and Y are already deplaning.

Cheers, Howard

Travelled out in F on a short business trip last week thanks to the J>F promotion and had a terrific crew. Filled out the questionnaire, mentioned this and just said thanks at the end of the flight. On the way back the CSD smiled, said "Welcome back Lux", stopped me climbing to the blessed 62K and invited back into F.

Where do I complain about this terrible experience? Now, really - I travel on BA pretty frequently and, whilst most flights are not spectacular, they're rarely if ever bad. My only complaint would be that sometimes the crew in F, on the rare times I travel at the front, can seem a little aloof.

So it's good to see that some people take the time to report positive experiences. I've had a lot.

Err, some people would prefer 62K to the less good seats in F. And it's more private than any F seat and in some ways better for sleeping.

More positively, and more seriously, I will add that my last four long-haul flights (three in CW, one in F) have been more or less as flawless as the OP describes.

[The two before that (LHR-GRU-LHR around the New Year) were less good, mainly due to LHR problems with a one-hour CW check-in on the way out, and a one-hour wait for bags on the return. But I did get 10k miles compensation.]

On a separate note my flight back from BKK on Sunday (on QF metal) was subject to a 42 hr delay. Arrived early at the airport to expect the worst but was pleasantly surprised to see my party were offered 2 options home : We took the AF via CDG option rather than the KL via AMS which meant we landed LHR only 1 hour behind schedule, although sadly no F on this route.

Escorted through BKK to the QF/BA lounge and again for boarding of the AF flight

Whilst I am sure there were many people hugely inconvenienced (again) by the QF engineering strike (the BA 10 was full ex SYD all the way home), on the rare time I could have had a poor experience, customer service worked well, all credit to them.

Now my views on the AF flight are for another place, but in short, food very good, no AVOD, no frills, amenity kit very poor, and food services too drawnout. Lights out for only 5 hours on a 10h30 flight. seat not too bad but like many experience I was regularly sliding down to the footwell!!
