Searched on here but can't find anything else on this, so here goes with email just received:
You told us you wanted to use your Card at John Lewis department stores and we are delighted that this is now possible.
To celebrate this partnership, the first time you use the Card to spend £50 or more at John Lewis department stores or online at John Lewis Direct we will give you 1,000 bonus Membership Rewards points.

Though natch BA Amex users will not get the MR points, you will have to employ your secondary cards to get the bonus.

John Lewis Press Release on this. Waitrose have been taking Amex for over 10 years apparently. Mind you it doesn't seem that long ago that JL didn't take any credit cards at all apart from their own.

The points themselves should post as a result of the reconciliation by AmEx of the date, the transaction value and the merchant ID number of the JL Department Store.
Each store and often different departments should have their own IDs, all of which will identify them as JL stores. Waitrose stores should have different IDs so there should be no confusion when it comes to reconciliation.
