Camera, Camcorder Carry-on?

Current carry-on permits electronic items, ie. laptops, hair dryers, cell phones to be allowed but no mention about camera equipment. I searched all forums and the web sites of major airlines and TSA, BAA, UK and same info. What has been your experience to date and are the restrictions different entering/departing the UK? (PHX-BA-LHR).
TIA

I suspect you will be OK with camera gear as long as it fits in a case of the prescribed size...

Mia - LHR last night was no problem with Cam Corder + camera in carry on.

Only restriction is that you have to remove from bags at Screening.

The official posting says "All laptops and large electrical items (e.g. large hairdryer) must be removed from the bag and placed in a tray..."

I see no prohibition on cameras of any kind - as long as they fit into your carry-on.

www.TSA.gov has updated the carry-on list-"can I take it?" Cameras and camcorders are allowed. I am not sure if BA follows these guidelines or the UK equivalent. Thanks to all.

Cameras are fine but you may be asked to remove them from your (small) bag
