OT: 3 hotels in HK
My apology for OT - I am just getting used to the collective knowledge of BA forum which is very often better than some very specialist advise/forums... ^
I will have a week-long trip to HK and will need to select one of the hotels where to stay (I think all of them are in Kowloon, nearby StarFerry terminal): Langham Hotel MarcoPolo Gateway Sheraton Hotel Could you please give me your views, preferrence and recommendations of which hotel is the "best". The company will foot the bill but I would still be interested in quality/value ratio as well as location, rooms, exec club facilities (I am *wood Gold but noone with other 2 hotels), swimming pool etc. Above trio is the only possible selection (as per company list of preferred properties) so I cannot go to Hyatt or Intercontinental even if they are cheaper/better (dont let me started on those rules   ). Many thanks for advise/hints. PS How did I manage not to throw in a point about ex-LHR baggage issue, god knows :D |

I've had the pleasure of staying at all 3 in the last 18 months! My order woould be : Sheraton (especially if you can swing a harbourview room), then the Langham just behind and the Marco Polo a very distant third. The Sheraton only wins on the harbourview location - the Langham is a cracking hotel but the rooms are a little dark. Both have excellent Cantonese restaurants, though the Tang Court at the Langham just edges it.
The three Marco Polo hotels in Harbour City/Ocean Centre are dismal and to be avoided. Sheraton has a Towers section which is another HKD400+ per night, but good value. Gold and Plat do not get you access through. I've stayed in one of the Langham's exec rooms but it was a while ago and I can't really remember much. Both have a small pool. |
