SWMBO & I are off to SSH next week...at Ł450 and 240 TP's it looks pretty good to me...unless you can get an 80 TP run in at under Ł150?

My work pattern changed 3 years ago and haven't done any business travelling in that time. But wife and I have managed to keep Gold. Now that IB run has gone we do keep an eye out for cheap I class fares, you just have to be flexible. The ITA Trip Planner is great for telling you what cheap I class fares are available.

Also as mentioned the YUP fares are very good value - did BOS-LAX-HNL last year for 720 TP's plus 150 for WT+ LHR-BOS. Later this year we are doing LGW-MCO (Cheap J fare from Travel Shops link) and then MCO-MIA-SFO for 480 points. Also trying SSH later this year as this does represent very good value, especially if booked at aa.com, for 240 TP's

THanks guys I was just about to ask about the gold to silver thing. I am about to turn gold, and have 6 months to the end of the membership year. WIll a new year start as soon as my card changes colour, or will I be gold for 18 months? ANd if I do not fly at all in the next year, will my card turn blue or silver at the end of it? I have searched on this but not found an answer.
THanks

Err, you couldn't have searched very hard! It's in the ULTIMATE BA guide which is a sticky on the front page of the forum! Specifically:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3354014

though the 'soft landing' (Gold->Silver->Blue rather than Gold->Blue) doesn't seem to be. I'll ask Dave_C to add it...
