Guam considered part of South West Pacific?

I was planning on accruing some BA miles, so I could try to get a couple of award seats on JL flying from Guam (GUM) to Narita\Tokyo (NRT). Distance is about 1,500 miles. I called the BA office (am in USA), agent spoke with a supervisor, and GUM is considered part of SW Pacific, along with Australia, etc. Economy award ticket is 50,000 miles. If it were intra-Asia on some routes, think it would have cost 15,000 miles which is what I was hoping for. Was that a fluke call regarding GUM being in SW Pacific, and try calling again?
Any input\experience? Thank you.
