OK, that makes it a bit easier. But BA gold and IC RA on leisure travel is still a rather impressive financial expenditure. ^

I'll get there someday... *sigh*

That's me, and I'm lucky to have an understanding Financial Controller, who appreciates the benefits I bring the company with applying what I've learnt from FT to my fares. On a voluntary basis (sadly), I'm a quality control operative.

For my sins, I also work in the IT sector and any business travel is very, VERY "Y". I regularly get to sample the delights of Sleazyjet from GLA to STN or Air Wales from PIK to CWL. Oh, for the delights of old where i'd be doing a GLA-LHR on BA (usually fully-flex) and used to have a BA Silver *sigh*. Dont mind the travel, would just appreciate getting to do it on a half decent airline now and again. All thanks to a very tight travel policy in our place (Y all the way). Still, i'm glad i'm not in the same position as our logistics department - one of the managers had to go to SIN to oversee an installation and it was Y all the way (on KLM), as was a previous trip to Grand Caymen. Those kind of trips (LONG haul in Y) I wouldnt thank you for.

I agree that seniority is the way to go in bigger firms, as they will have the better travel policies.

Work as a consultant, telling other people how to run their businesses more effectively. With my clients I am very successful.

Unfortunately I have been less successful in influencing my company's 'Y Y Y and more Y' travel policy.

The analogy about consultants and watches does make me laugh, especially when I hear it from clients. To continue it, I often walk into client's offices to find them sitting with two gold Rolexes on and still they ask me the time.
