MFU an RTW ticket

Anyone know if you can use BA Miles to upgrade from Club to First on a OneWorld Explorer RTW ticket. If so, how many do you need?

You can only MFU on BA ticketed, BA metal. Don't know what exactly a OW Explorer is, but I'm guessing not.

No you cannot. As noted, the ticket has to be on BA paper and only include Ba flights. Obviously not possible!

Has anyone tried this? If the DONEX is issued by BA and on BA Ticket Stock then is there anything in the rules that say you cannot MFU individual legs?

as178 - You will probably be best to ask BA. If you get an answer please come back and tell us.

I asked, and was told that the presence of non BA flights on the ticket made it 'not possible'. But, worth a try again?

Oneworld Explorer is the name of the RTW product. And you're all correct - BA only.

Sorry for digging up this old thread, but I wanted to ask if anything has changed in the last three years. I have three BA segments (SIN-LHR, LHR-DXB, DXB-LHR) on a DONE3 (J class ticketed in D inventory) issued by CX. Is there any way to upgrade those segments to F?

I would hazard a guess that the only way *might* would be via a TA.

As far as I know the only ticket you can upgrade is a Y ticket and then only to WT+ on the segments that it is available. You cannot upgrade D tickets.

I recall it specifically excluded MFU on the rules when I read them prior to my booking; only possible upgrades were a move to Premium Economy and WT+ on Qantas and BA for a set fee.

if the ticket is issued on BA 'stock' it might be worth trying. The prohibition on BA metal only for MFU's is no longer so it may be possible. After all the RTW rules say no upgrades but you can use AA instruments to move up a cabin.

It might be worth a call to BA....and a small bucket of patience.

I am just wondering how they allow you to do LHR-DXB-LHR !

Isn't this back tracking and it is not allowed with RTW tickets ?

On AA sectors of a RTW you can use AA FF eVIP upgrade vouchers to move up a cabin.

Back tracking within a region is acceptable. You might like to visit the OW forum here for more information on the RTW products.
