Flight prices ex-US

Last week I bought my mother a JFK-LHR-JFK in WT+ for December and used my miles to upgrade. I was quite suprised to find the WT+ price was only 365 (inl tax). I was wondering if anyone knows, is this the usual price from the US, or was I lucky to book during a special promotion. Also what is the regular CW fare from JFK to LHR?

If you do a search you will find that this topic has come up frequently. WT+ fares are sold at a modest premium to WT fares. So, in the low season it is possible to get a WT+ return for under $600 though fuel and other surcharges are pushing that up. From June through August, the high season for leisure travel, WT+ is still sold at a premium to a higher WT holiday fare and works out around $1,000.

The fare you purchased was probably the 42 advance purchase, the most restrictive. There is also a 14 day advance purchase which is a couple of hundred dollars higher.

BA is the market maker at LHR - it isn't in NYC and therefore has to compete for leisure travellers with the US carriers who really set prevailing prices.

Sounds about right, I bought a couple of WT+ tickets out of IAD at Xmas time and paid a shade over 400 GBP for them (I think $740), this wasn't the cheapest at the time (could have paid nearer $650), I just needed specific dates. The $740 fare was even cancellable for $200

There was a recent sale and I could have got the same flights for nearer 300 GBP damn it but nevertheless and happy and think the $740 is still a really good price.

It's generally similar to the ex-LHR fare.

Club ex LHR 2031
Club ex JFK 1914
