Question about checked luggage for 2 people

Mr. Tb and I will be flying BA Eurotraveller next week. We expect to check 3 bags with a combined total weight of 75-90 lbs. Since we're allowed 50 lbs. per person, do I have to pack our suitcases with 25, 25 and 40 lbs. or will BA just go by the total weight of the 3 pieces?

They are only concerned that you don't exceed the total allowance, ie 2 times 22kg. But make sure no single bag exceeds 32kg as they won't take it.

That's about 70lbs in old money. :)

According to BA's website/ticket confirmation, it's about 50 lbs. (You must be calculating in really old money.) ;) Fortunately, I'm too lazy to carry that much anyway.

No, your allowance is 22kg = approx 48lbs per person. But no single bag in the group must exceed 32kg = approx 70lbs.

Don't mean to be argumentative, but from the BA website (italics mine):

All other international routes
Adults and children aged 2 and over FIRST - 40kg (88lbs)
Club World/Club Europe - 30kg (66lbs)
World Traveller Plus, World Traveller, Euro Traveller - 23kg (51 lbs)
You're certainly correct about the 70 lb. limit for one bag, but I don't plan to take more than our baggage allowance.

Heavy items
Passengers taking more than their baggage allowance will incur excess baggage charges
No single bag may exceed 32kg (70lbs) in weight

Apart from the 1kg error about your individual allowances, every other piece of information you have received has been correct, so I'm not entirely sure why you are being argumentative.

Allowance per passenger = 23kgs
Piece Limit = 32kgs

Whilst for a family they will probably combine your individual allowances, no individual piece may exceed 32kgs.

All clear now.

Thank you TheSaint. Apologies about quoting 22kg instead of 23kg - mental block. But if you look back at TheSaint's original post you will see that he clearly quoted my comments about the 32kg limit (70lbs) which you then corrected to read 50lbs - incorrectly. Anyway, glad we could be of help. Goodbye.

Thank you all for your help in answering my question; now that I know that my husband's luggage allowance and mine will be combined, it will be easier for me to pack. :)
