Extra flights to TIP from 1 Jan

... According to OW: http://oneworld.com/pressroom/releas...?ObjectID=3696

Does anyone have info on these extra flights? I can't find any mention of it on BA's site.

Is TIP the new LIS?

HKG for £981 return in F/C
SYD for £1598

Anyone had any experiences in TIP? Who handles BA?

Wonder if we can avoid actually going landside on this short stopover. There's a short turnaround (less than an hour) and who knows what problems one could experience at Immigration?!

Which dates did you plug in to get the above prices? I tried a number of dummy bookings, but am only getting prices around £5,000.

Ex-TIP may not become the new ex-Lis for the simple reason that TIP is not within the EU and therefore BA could refuse to sell non-residents the discounted tickets. Conversely, because Portugal is within the EU, BA cannot stop residents from other EU member states from purchasing the discounted tickets.

Was pricing it on Sabre - not the BA web site. Fare quotes are as follows. You'll see that they have to be ticketed in Libya, but a PTA should do it.

PTA / TOD is not allowed by law in Libya !!! So the only way at the moment is, to by from an agent in Libya .
What´s also different is, that are no special BA fares, that`s IATA fares for all airlines ! Most important rule HIP > no S.O. more than 23h.59m. , or fare quotes out much higher.! And these fares are not available to the USA !!!
If one find an agent who sells and sent the tickets, it would work fine. But if you need to enter the country, you need a litle time and organice a VISA ,which is not easy in the first place.

There's an extensive thread about ex-TIP already - including discussions on visa requirements. Heartily recommended if you're considering ex-TIP.....

Not true. I'm flying from TIP and didn't buy my ticket from a Libyan TA and it's legit.
