best seats, OLCI?

First - thanks to all who advised on lounges. I've chosen JFK over EWR on this basis.

Second - when are the "best" seats typically released (if ever) for OLCI (silver status)? Am I doing myself harm by checking in precisely 24 hours in advance? Obviously looking to score 62A (or similar) on the outbound, 28B for WT+ on the way home. Thanks in advance - Jamie

You should check in 24 hours in advance to maximise your chances of getting your required seats...

If at first you don't succeed ... OLCI lets you go back in again later, so you can log back in to see whether better seats have come free. Useful for when the seat map isn't available for self-changing at -24h.
