Airmiles premium rates newsflash
OT - usual apologies- EC members who follow my occasional posts relating to airmiles may be interested to hear that premium booking rates have been re-negotiated and will be released on Monday. The "Luxury" agent I spoke with was pleasant but said that her best guess was that we'll see an even bigger hike in premium miles-only seats if she's to be believed she, like us is in the dark until the new rates get loaded into the booking system. Still no online booking for premium airmiles only seats but just a glimmer of good news in that (finally) the premium seats will be available at part cash rates - better than rumour status according to her. Well that's it for airmiles news. Thank goodness for BA miles is all I can say!

Thanks for the info. Usefull insight as usual. I only wish I had known earlier what I read in one of your previous posts that Premium Fares ( In airmiles) also reduced under the Shrink The World promotions. I am still Kicking myself....

The new premium rates are appearing, albeit slowly - (Remember this is nothing to do with BA Miles folks) and they don't look too special. A few examples are: LAX in March on BA = 21,000 airmiles or 6170 + £1734. LAX in F on BA or AA 75,990 0r 14,440 + £4028. (bear in mind this could once have cost you a mere 12,000 airmiles plus taxes during "shrinks the world" periods so that's a fivefold increase). NY until end March on Kuwait Air 1880 + £546 ( http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif personally I'd rather swim.) and so on. Many more fares are not yet "loaded" and anyway, don't expect to find them on the airmiles website (ever). So there you go. So in conclusion, airmiles are probably only worthwhile for economy flying these days - but I suppose few will notice the difference anyway http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

75,990 F to LAX. THey have lost the plot.
Airlines are a 10th The Value of BA miles ( Working onthe Tesco Exchange). That would be the same as 759,9090 BA miles for an F to LAX. I cant see that Tesco's will be to happy about all the airmiles changes. Launched as a major insentive to shop at Tesco's ( when they took over from Sainsburys). What insentive is there now ????? |

OT: Do these Airmiles tickets earn miles / tier points??
|
No They are award inventory. However there are some cash / airmile options that earn you AIRMILES. ( Based on cash spend, not distance flown).
I priced a flight to Cyprus yesterday, and the discounted fare cash + airmiles (900 of them so the same as useing 9000 baec miles) wirked out the same price as if I bought the ticket on Travelocity. |
